We are in the process of moving out of our home of 26 years ( only the garage is left to do, so can be emptied in quick time if needed).... and are offering our home for sale in The town of Belmond, Iowa.. It has been rewired, sheetrocked, etc in the late 60s when the top of the house went off in the Belmond 1966 tornado-- years ago,-- So the roof has a nice slant to work on, and It has a nice open floor plan, lots of cupboards and closets ( which I am missing alot!!)....my husband decided to downsize us, so that leaves a wonderful family home for your use. This house has hot water heat ( I find the forced air furnance I now have creates more dust), a lot of newer, tilt in windows, wood burner in the basement. You can help conserve your heat bill if needed this way. A lot of insulation also. ........ It has a double attached garage, that is attached to a back porch entry, considered a mud room, with a bathroom in a hall way that is mostly closet. There is a laundry area off the kitchen, with laundryshoot,.... and a nice large living room. .... ....Then you can find the front porch that has nice built in shelf and connecting bench. .... ....( were tempted to remove these, but they add such character to the room, which i had used for my computer for years. It also has a nice large closet there, across one end of the room. ---------------------------------.... .... -The steps to the basement and upstairs are in the same area off the kitchen, with a common mainfloor landing, which also has a broom closet and a few steps down to a side door. ---------------------------------------------- The laundry chute has been wonderful for the kids and myself. --------------------------------------Four to five bedrooms upstairs, and a nice large bathroom (cupboards of which I miss also!!).... The wood (Birch?) that is on the cupboards in the kitchen is the same used on the woodwork and doors throughout the house. Breakers in the fusebox. Newer hot water heater. Appliances negotiable. We are still removing items, and the home is large, so rather difficult to get pictures as you will understand, the closets between the two large bedrooms connect ( you can walk through them) as do the closet between the other two bedrooms. The fifth bedroom is off the one bedroom, probably was a porch at one time. In the basement is a shower/stool/ sink, a room that could be a bedroom and a larger room that has the woodburner. A small room off that is where we kept wood, and then later on supplies for Ebay selling. ( insurance charges about 25 a year on the policy for the wood stove). -------------------------------------------Please come see this house. The shingles are pretty new, and the roof is not really steep, so easier to work with. We have left the internet antennae there for wireless with our local server. ---------------------------------- We enjoyed this house and raised our kids and a few years of Christmas for the grandkids here. We are still in town, and run an antique shop.----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I just painted the larger upstairs bathroom a nice beige type color and changed the curtains in the second larger bedroom......looks pretty good to me...............
------------------------------ This home is located at 407 First St NE, right behind main street, with easy access to the stores. The fire department is a couple blocks west as is the post office, and a nice park, town hall, etc. Plenty of church choices in town also. Good Schools, growing medical facilities. A Great Place to Raise a family.
The house has a side door off the basement, so it could actually be made into a duplex, but since I lived there so long, Im not interested in renting it to others, if I cannot be there.....So please come and look at my home, make a reasonable offer, and bring your family to a good place to live. We are getting closer to having the main house emptied out, would prefer to have new owners decide on flooring decisions...
